So rough, so tough, out here…

So rough, so tough, out here…

Off to Vegas in the morning for a much needed vacation. Actually, I don’t even consider going to Vegas a “vacation” anymore… it’s more like a really far drive to drink with friends… and if I’m lucky… REALLY REALLY lucky… cheap steak and eggs. That’s all I want. Should I even attempt to update the blog during this trip? It never ends up working out… Instagram fosho, though. You can bet on that.
Wolf pack.
I was serious about the food posts. Here we go…
Probably one of the biggest perks of living in San Diego, besides the great weather, is the fine fine foine Mexican cuisine. I’ll have to admit, Mex makes up for 90% of my diet and being a San Diegan… its pretty much weaved into your DNA whether you like it or not. Everyone has their go-to spot for their carne asada cravings… JV’s, MXN (the Taco Shop Formerly Known As Santana’s), ____+berto’s, Lolita’s, etc etc etc… I could go on for days. But if you’re ever in Mira Mesa, give this hidden gem a try… El Maguey. Located in one of Mira Mesa Blvd’s many shopping plazas, you will completely pass it if you blink so keep an eye out.
On this particular day, some co-workers and I cruised down to El Mags for lunch… pass Los Primo’s… pass Habanero’s… pass Cotixan… its THAT good. You can’t go wrong with their California Burrito which is what I got. For the food challenge-minded eaters, get any of their burritos WET (soaked in red sauce, topped with cheese, guacamole and sour cream on the side). Food coma is inevitable. Free chips and salsa if you dine in… also complimentary entertainment in the form of an afternoon talk show or local news (depending when you arrive).

California Love.
Last Friday, I was able to cross off an item that has been on my to-do list for the longest time and that was to RESTART PHANTOM. After the online shop went live… it took a while for everything to sink in… days… even after receiving a few congrats from friends… it simply did not register with me what I had actually accomplished. The culmination of all the crazy months prior had surely left my brain numb and in some sort of zombie mode… not to mention lack of sleep the night before launch.
Now that I’ve had a few days to recharge, SLEEP, and come to my senses… I just want to say “HYFR I DID IT!” and thanks to everyone who has shown support either via mouth, likes, comments, reposts, and/or retweets. I’m super excited to be back… blogging, making stuff, building PHANTOM… just glad to have this “avenue of expression” back in my life. I’ve been MIA in the blogosphere for a minute and it sucks not having those posts to look back on (years of solid #TBT material… gone). The “dark ages of my life” as I like to call it.
I’ve picked up on quite a few things since then as a designer and “entrepreneur”. Some of the messages and themes you will see are a result of those observations and learning experiences. Other times, there won’t be a reason other than I thought it looked cool.
Moving forward… this blog will act both as a personal blog (stuff I like, eat, food, lunches, stuff I like to eat) and brand blog (updates, behind-the-scenes type stuff, lunch meetings). Also itching to get back into video so expect to see some of that content soon. Make sure you follow me on Instagram and Twitter for the latest and check out the offerings in the online shop if you haven’t already.
Last but not least…

Welcome.
THE ONLINE SHOP IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN. Thanks for the support, everyone! Hope you like what you see. Here are some photos from last night’s prep. Recap post/thoughts coming later today…

Sleep less.
